Protective Embrace

ਚਉਗਿਰਦ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਕਾਰ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥

On all four sides I am surrounded by the Lord’s Circle of Protection;
pain does not afflict me, O Siblings of Destiny.

The souls of the couple are hugging each other in a cocoon like chamber, the loving and protective embrace of the Master. With love grounded in recognition of their own divine spiritual nature; one with the omnipresent and omnipotent Universe, they are surrounded by an ocean of loving vibrations which guard against materialistic afflictions- joy, sorrow, pain, disease. This sacred and secret self-realization is only possible by cultivating His presence through contemplation and meditation and listening inwardly.

Inspired by the above sentiment, this pastel and pen painting reflects on the power of the word Waheguru – ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ– pronounced “Wah-hay-guroo”. Wah means Infinite, hay means Thou, and Guru means Higher Self (the Divine Teacher within you) and how through concentration, the developed consciousness attains oneness with the Spirit which then provides an invisible shield of protection from the world.

This is the mantra which has been lovingly handwritten minutely in the painting to portray the omnipresent Divine energy.
